New Staff Friends

Updated: Nov 2, 2023

This past week I had the opportunity to attend a refresh retreat at Camp Michinoh in Michigan. There were over 70 individuals who recently joined staff with Cru. They each answered God’s calling to share the Gospel and make disciples– most will be serving on college campuses all over the United States & within other ethnic specific movements; some are serving with the Jesus Film, Athletes in Action, Bridges and with other ministries.

There were so many amazing individuals that I had the pleasure to meet. I wish I could highlight a bit of everyone's story. It was so encouraging to hear how God was using them to be light to those around them. We spent the week in community studying Philippians, praying, and remembering truth. As for God, his way is perfect. The Lord's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. It was a sweet reminder.

Hear from some of my new friends below:

I am so excited to serve at Athletes in Actions headquarters/sports complex in Xenia, Ohio! I had been serving part-time with Cru Inner City, but over time God reminded me of the beauty of sports. As a former college athlete, I know how easy it is for identity and hope to be wrapped up and entangled with sports. However, I also know that sports has the beautiful ability to knock down barriers, build relationships, and reach communities. I was able to see glimpses of this while serving with Inner City, and felt a large pull to re-enter the sports world. I wanted to share the hope of Jesus with athletes and to mobilize them to reach their communities! So, after months of praying, God led me to Athletes in Action where I will get serve as an athletic trainer! Through providing a physical need, I will be trusting God to open doors to share who He is with athletes who come from across the world to train and complete with AIA!

I’m serving long term at the University of Connecticut. I chose to move to New England because it is not only the least religious part of the country, but also the area with the biggest need for missionaries. It also allows me to be much closer with my family and while giving me more opportunities to share the Gospel with them.

Madison

I am serving full-time at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA. I desire to see the next generation of students come to saving faith in Christ, grow in their relationship with Him, and then confidently share their faith with those around them!

ASPEN

I'm serving with Cru in Southern Colorado at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and Colorado State University Pueblo. The Lord used Cru to radically transform my life. I thought I could save myself but was bitterly disappointed. Then God showed me His grace and mercy and I was astonished! I serve so that more college students would encounter God for themselves and truly understand why He is worthy of submitting to!

As iron sharpens iron... I am thankful we get to be used by God to strengthen and encourage one another.
